Russian Diplomat's Day Open Chess Tournament 2023 by the Russian House in KL & the Malaysian Chess Federation.

On the 12th of February, the Director of the Russian House – Ms. Svetlana Kovaleva, in collaboration with the Malaysian Chess Federations (MCF) have organized a friendly chess tournament which is dedicated to the Day of the Diplomatic Worker in Russia.

The Russian House in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, with its lovely current Director – Ms. Svetlana Kovaleva, in collaboration with the Malaysian Chess Federations (MCF) have organized a friendly mini chess tournament on the 12th of February - the Russian Diplomat's Day Open Chess Tournament 2023. The tournament is dedicated to the Day of the Diplomatic Worker in Russia. The event is free and open to all! A total of 50 players registered for the event, including diplomats from Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, & of course, Russia.

The opening ceremony was graced by His Excellency Naiyl Latypov, Ambassador of Russia to Malaysia, & Mr. Akhramsyah Sanusi, President of the Malaysian Chess Federation where we get to celebrate the bonds of the two countries coming together. The tournament featured 6 round games where each player receives 10 minutes to complete the game, that is to say - Checkmate!

It was a friendly & fun tournament! The Russian House even prepared some chess-themed small refreshments for everyone. The prizes for the event included beautiful bouquets of flowers which were wrapped in chess-themed wrapping paper, kindly made by Варвара Щукина. Certificates for the award ceremony were presented in frames with the winners’ names printed on the certs. Yours truly - Ellie Emira, was honored to be the emcee for the closing ceremony.

𝐓𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐧 emerged as the 𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐢𝐨𝐧 for the 𝐎𝐩𝐞𝐧 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭 with a 𝐟𝐮𝐥𝐥 𝟔 𝐩𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐬! 2nd place goes to Ainul Mardhiah, followed by Lye Jiun Yin, Jaishivan, and Azraa Adeline. In the 𝐃𝐢𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐭 category prizes, 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐬 𝐀𝐦𝐢𝐫 𝐕𝐚𝐬𝐞𝐞𝐯 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐔𝐳𝐛𝐞𝐤𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧, followed by Alexendra (RUS), Laziz (UZB), Sodat (TJK), & Alexey (RUS). For the 𝐛𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐥𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐞𝐬 category, the champion goes to 𝐇𝐚𝐬𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐡, followed by Aisha, and Darya from Tajikistan. In the 𝐔𝟏𝟐 𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐳𝐞𝐬, 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐢𝐨𝐧 goes to 𝐋𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐉𝐢𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧, followed by Abdurrahman, Chan Lok Him, Chan Hao Ean, and Jai Kishna - all from Malaysia.
