“Dear chess friends,

Together with our partners, the Thailand Chess Association, the Blue Chevaliers are pleased to announce our second "Blue Chevaliers International Championship" to be played alongside the Thailand national championship tournaments in Bangkok from 12-17 April 2023.”

Peter Frost, a member of the Blue Chevaliers, sent us an email to share about the Blue Chevaliers' coming tournament. That’s the short “part 1” of the email, read on to find part 2!

It’s a 9 rounds classical event with 90m+30s time control played over 6 days. The venue is The Hall, Level 5, Central Shopping Centre. Register before 31st March as there would be a 500 baht fee imposed after that.

Residents of Thailand of any rating can enter. However, the standard ELO of players who are not residents of Thailand must not exceed 2300. Read the "Eligibility" section in the tournament regulations for the full details.

🏆Prize fund 74,000THB = 9600MYR = 2125USD

🏆Champion 20,000THB = 2595MYR = 575USD

That’s the prize fund for the event, and the champion, along with the equivalent of it in other currencies.

Take note: “This tournament should not be confused with our "Blue Chevaliers International Open" held in Phuket each July.”

So there you have it! There will still be the Blue Chevaliers Phuket version in July!

The full details are in the pictures below, or here's the PDF version!

There is an email form below you may fill up to receive upcoming tournament info from the Blue Chevaliers, note that the emails will be shared with the organizer.

For any questions regarding the Blue Chevaliers event, please email them as we at Chess Clicks have no idea 🙃

And as promised, here is part 2 of the email!

"This follows on from the initial tournament held in November 2021 and won by FM Nikolai Makarov.

The tournament was conceived as an "expat championship" for local players ineligible to enter the Thailand Championship tournaments. Therefore, in 2021 entries were restricted to Thailand residents only.

However, we have decided to now open the tournament up to any player from any nation with a FIDE Standard ELO rating not exceeding 2300. You no longer need to be a resident of Thailand to enter.

Full details of the tournament are attached. We look forward to the prospect of welcoming our chess friends, both from Thailand and overseas, to Bangkok in April.

This tournament should not be confused with our "Blue Chevaliers International Open" held in Phuket each July (see below)."

Followed by a list of upcoming classical tournaments in Thailand, if you would like to receive the list, please fill in the email form below and mention "list" in the message. And lastly, attached was the PDF.

That's the end from us at Chess Clicks, hope you join the tournament by the Blue Chevalier :)
