Happy New Year 2024! It may be the first half of January but here's the January Edition. We’re still a little bit in holiday mood from December & Christmas, but the new year brings new tournaments and hopefully renewed passion & enthusiasm!
January holds many rapid events for the weekends all around Malaysia, such as Selangor, Kedah, Perak, Negeri Sembilan, etc, but for those who fancy longer time control, then there is the all too well 12th KL Master classical event on 27th - 28th January.
February boasts many tournaments, especially during the Chinese New Year season, not just in Malaysia but in Thailand as well. The Malaysian Chess Federation is very active in February too with its National Junior Chess Championship on the 16th to 18th in Perak, & its biggest event of the year by far - the Commonwealth Chess Championship 2023-24 on the 19th to 28th in Melaka, which already has many players from different federations joining & over 200 players! An FA Seminar will also be running alongside the event in Melaka.

In March, there is the 2024 Perth International Open from the 1st to 4th March 2024 in Australia. Note that an early entry discount is available until 23rd February. Visit their official website to register for the event.
Taylor’s University Chess Club will also be holding their annual event in March - TCC Ultimate Clash 3.0 on 2nd to 3rd March with 4 tournaments - Open Rapid, Blitz Open, Rapid U18, & Rapid U12 with a total prize pool of RM13,160! Register now before it’s too late!
Scroll through the entire Edition to find out more interesting events!
We would also like to wish everyone a blessed new year! May you enjoy every tournament that you play, make new friends, achieve greater chess titles, & may every experience bring you closer to a beautiful Checkmate!
